What is USCIS?
- USCIS stands for US Citizenship and Immigration Services. It is part of the Department of Homeland Security, and used to be called the INS. USCIS processes green card and visa applications.
Who requires certified translations?
- USCIS
- Most foreign governments
- Universities
- Employers
What does USCIS require?
- The translator must certify that the transaction is accurate.
- The translator must certify that he/she is competent to translate.
- The certification should include the translator’s name, signature, address, and the date of certification.
- Read more about our certified translation for the USCIS here.
How do I get started?
- Upload your document.
- Pay with Visa, MasterCard, or American Express.
- We’ll email you your certified translation. Print it and you’re all set.
Do you translate multi-page documents?
- Yes, and we charge the same flat rate of $12 per page.
Who will translate my document?
- Every document will be reviewed by two different translators.
- A professional translator will perform the initial translation.
- A different translator will proofread the translation.
How do you ensure the quality of your translators?
- We’re very selective and accept less than 10% of the translators that apply.
- Each translator has successfully completed an extensive screening process. They have been tested in their specific language pair, through multiple choice tests, free answer tests, and by performing certified translations in a timed environment.
- All of our translators have completed this screening process – both the translator who performs the initial translation and the proofreader.
- A typical LingoCafe translator has worked as a professional translator for over 5 years.
Do you notarize documents?
- No, because USCIS does not require notarizations.
- Some competitors insist on a notarization, so they can charge you higher prices.
- To learn more, learn about notarization here or refer them to USCIS’s website.
Can you mail certified translations?
- No, and we pass on the savings to you.
- We like email, and our clients tell us they prefer it.
- We’ll send your certified translation as a PDF file.
Please explain your 100% money-back guarantee.
- At LingoCafe, our #1 priority is giving our clients high-quality, professional translations to support their applications to USCIS.
- We will give you a 100% refund if your translation is not accepted by USCIS for any reason whatsoever.
- We stand by our work, and we’ve never had a translation rejected.
- We also guarantee that our translations will be accepted by any US government agency or US university that requires a certified translation.
Can I fax you a document for translation?
- Sure, our fax number is 415-449-3679.
- Once you fax the document, you’ll need to make a payment. Just select the right number of pages, and enter your contact information and credit card.
- For fastest service, we recommend you upload your document. Our turnaround guarantee applies to uploaded documents, not to documents received via fax, since faxes require additional processing time.
How do you price dense pages? Can I get a quote?
- We charge $12/page for both light and dense pages, which includes over 95% of orders
- For extremely dense pages (> 250 words per page), we count words
- If your document is extremely dense (lots of words, small print), count the total words and divide by 250 — this is your page count to use for your order.
- Not sure? We are happy to give you a quote. Just email your document to info@lingocafe.co.uk and we’ll respond quickly with a quote.
